Resolutions I’ll Actually Keep (Because They Involve Travel)

Change has a way of announcing itself whether we’re ready or not. After four years of living overseas, I know that in the summer of 2026 I’ll be packing up once again heading back to the states. But if these years have taught me anything, it’s that loving travel isn’t about where you live. It’s about choosing curiosity again and again, even when the map looks a little different. Or at least that’s what I am going to tell myself to make me feel better, haha.
I am THAT girl who sets intentions and new goals for the new year and 2026 will be no exception! Knowing I have a big move upcoming, I want to ensure I keep excitement a habit in my life! I don’t want it to be all packing, stress, and not having any fun in the process therefore I am setting three new year intentions going into 2026!

One New City a Month
One new city a month sounds ambitious, but I’m not treating it like a checklist. Some months it might be a full weekend escape, others just a quiet overnight train ride somewhere close.
With going back to the states, I want to do a better job exploring my own backyard there as well! I am an east coast girlie and before moving to Europe, I pretty much stayed close. So here’s to 6 new European cities and 6 new cities in the states!

Do One Thing I Normally Wouldn’t
In every city, I want to do one thing that’s slightly outside my comfort zone. I feel most at ease when I am sitting, outside, and with a glass of Prosecco in my hand. This year I would like to try some new things on my travels! More hiking, maybe sky diving, or a surfing class. I’d like to incorporate more activities rather than seeking out the best food spots, cafes, and bars. Don’t get me wrong… still going to do that! But mix in some new activities and things I haven’t tried before. Travel has a way of showing me versions of myself I don’t always access at home and I want more of that.

Journal More, Post Less (At Least While I’m There)
I want to stop experiencing places through my phone first. This year, I’m journaling daily while traveling, taking photos without pressure to post,
letting moments belong to me before they belong online. The Instagram and blog can come later. The memory can’t.

As 2026 approaches, I’m learning that seasons of transition don’t have to be paused seasons. Moving back to the states will shift the rhythm of my life, but it doesn’t have to quiet the parts of me that crave movement, curiosity, and a little discomfort in the best way. These resolutions aren’t about how far I go or how much I document, they’re about staying connected to the version of myself that feels most alive when she’s exploring. So here’s to new cities, new experiences, and letting excitement remain part of the routine!
